ALEiens Homebrew Club

Spreading the Joys of Homebrewing Throughout Philadelphia and Its Suburbs

Anyone heading down to this? I'll be there tomorrow at the 1st session (Noon - 4PM). I've never been to one of these, what can I expect? Will it be a lot of waiting in line to get a sip of beer?

Here's a list of the brewers attending...

I was annoyed at first... Long lines and they were only pouring about 3oz. The lines actually moved pretty fast and most of the long lines were for the big names (sierra, magic hat, dogfish, etc.) which we avoided.

After I got a few ozs. in me things got better and toward the end of the session, the lines were real short.

Couple of brews that stood out...

  • Imperial Espresso Porter (Flying Fish)
  • Rodenbach Grand Cru
  • Arrogant Bastard (Stone)
  • Kilt Lifter (Four Peaks)
  • Cappuccino Stout (Lagunitas)
  • Dry Premier Cru (Aspall Cyder) - accidentally found myself in this line and glad I did... awesome cider.

(There were a lot of other good ones but my memory is a little fuzzy. Also, didn't make it to all of the booths.)

We ate afterward at the Tun Tavern across the street from the Convention Center... Later that night, we got to see some naked beggars... nice.
