Sly Fox's Brian O'Reilly At Our Next Meeting

This is the first ever ALEiens Pro Brewer Forum

Brian O'Reilly, the Head Brewer at Sly Fox, will be visiting the ALEiens and discussing Sly Fox beers and brewing. Jeff Lavin has ordered us a bunch of Sly Fox beers for the lecture and tasting. There will be 2 Sly Fox beers on tap (Gang aft Agley and Saison Vos) as well as 4 different 750ml Bottles.

There were 2 cases of the 750ml Bottles ordered and I would like the ALEiens to purchase these cases. This way we can have all the bottles open to taste while Brian O'Reilly discusses them. I don't have a price right now, but I am expecting it to be about $5 each person. That's a small price to pay for the night.

Also, Jeff Lavin again hooked us up. We will be moving to the new upstairs room at the Hulmeville Inn. Jeff really out did himself with this. When you see Jeff, say thanks. Even better, buy some more beers and food.

So here is what beers we have lined up

Sly Fox On Tap

  • Gang aft Agley
A Scottish Wee Heavy brewed with roasted barley and pale malts. A full-bodied malt lover's dream beer: mellow, rich and flavorful. Gang aft agley translates "oft go astray," as in Robert Burn's famous line about "the best laid plans of mice and men…".
  • Saison Vos
A Belgian style Saison (or Farmhouse Ale) brewed with German Pils malt and hopped with East Kent Goldings. Fermented with a special proprietary yeast which imparts its dry, spicy character. Golden orange in color.

  • Saison Vos

  • Black Raspberry Reserve
An unforgettable wheat ale brewed with German Pils and Wheat malts and Tradition hops, with 1 lb. of red and black raspberries per gallon of beer. This beer features a tart finish and a sugary sorbet aroma.
  • Ichor
An Abbot style Quadruple brewed with German Pils and Roast malts and Belgian Candi Sugar, hopped with German Tradition hops. Luscious and seductive, Ichor is brewed for both the body and the soul. This beer will improve with careful aging but is ready to drink now.
  • Incubus
A Tripel in the Abbot style, famed for its powers of seduction. Brewed with German Pils malt and invert sugar. Golden in color, dry and spicy

Unless the weather doesn't turn out to be shitty tomorrow night, I probably will not be attending this month's meeting due to the poor driving conditions that are being called for.

Understood. I will post here with an update when the time is closer. Right now it looks like it is coming after the meeting, but who knows exactly.

It looks like the snow won't be here until about 9:00pm. I have my fingers crossed.
