Saison du Senegal

It seems like forever since I've been able to brew but I've finally gotten my act together and am ready to brew again. One of my best and oldest friends is heading off to Senegal to join the Peace Corps where she'll be...oh I don't know...making the world a better place for about two and a half years. Adding some OG to an existing recipe

I have an existing recipe for a Pale Ale that I made back in August that I liked very much and would like to try it again except I want to add some more fermentables to bring the OG up a little.


1 lb US carmel malt

1 lb US victory malt

6.6 lbs LME

1 oz cent

2 oz cascade

OG = 1.046

FG = 1.016

ABV= 3.9%


So what I'm thinking to either add/increase something to bring the OG up to say 1.054-1.058. If I were to take a…

stuck oatmeal stout

Last Sunday afternoon I did up a Brewers Best oatmeal stout kit. The biggest problem on brew day was that i was supposed to steep the specialty grains for 45 mins at 160 degrees. I did that for about 25 mins before the temp had started to drop off so I turned the heat up just slightly on the stove to bring the temp back up, got pulled away from the kitchen, and the temp ended up going much too high, like above 180. So I killed the heat, topped the level off to 2.5 gallons and started boil…
