Recent Brews

Recent brews:

Fist Bump-kin Ale: Lightly hopped, lightly spiced brew made with Long Island Cheese pumpkin, local delicata squash, and a hint of white pepper.  Results: awesome flavor but batch was inconsistently carbonated.

Yuzu Ale: Belgian-style wheat beer made with fresh yuzu (a fragrant Japanese citrus) peel and coriander.  Results: best home brew yet!

Chamomile Ale: Brown ale accented with chamomile, juniper berry and grains of paradise.  Results: Not enough of any ingredient to make a statement!

Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale at Resurrection Ale House

Just had dinner at Resurrection Ale House for the first time.  Great place! Had the Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale.  You know how, when you taste a wine or a beer, a particular flavor comes to the forefront of your palate? Hey, welcome.  I use both plastic and glass carboys. I like the glass for secondary as well.  I am not a member of any beer swaping clubs or anything but would be open to that.  I live in South Philly, and joined this site to connect with other home brewers in the area.

Hey Matt - I use plastic buckets as well for primary fermentation and then rack to Glass carboy for secondary fermentation and conditioning. I'd definitely recommend it if your thinking about investing. They are a little bit harder to clean but do not scratch so you don't have to worry about contamination as much. It's also nice to be able to see the wort and kraeusen, dry hopping, etc...

Let me know what decide!
