ALEiens Homebrew Club

Spreading the Joys of Homebrewing Throughout Philadelphia and Its Suburbs

The ALEiens bring home 8 ribbons at the 2010 War of the Worts

Congrats to all the ALEiens who entered into the War of the Worts and
won ribbons. It was a tough competition. This year the competition was
the second largest ever on the east coast with 816 entries.

Though I don't have a final count for the total points for the Keystone
Cup, I do know Keystone Hops is running away with the competition this
year.  The ALEiens are in third place, but only like 5-7 points behind
LVHB (last years champion). If LVHB didn't win Best of show, we could
be in second. This just means we all need to brew more beers to enter
into Malt Madness (the final leg of the Keystone Cup).

Below are all the ALEien Winners:

1st - Christian Mosebach - 13E - The Darkness - American Stout
1st - William (Bill) Schools - 18E - #41 Winter Salutary - Belgian Dark Strong
1st - Tyler Currier - 16B - Leffe Some one the Ceiling - Belgian Pale Ale
2nd - Stephen Stopper - 18E - Stranger Brew Abbey Dubbel - Belgian Dubbel
2nd - Sam Scott - 7C - Dusseldorf Altbier
2nd - Justin Low - 21A - Cinnaster - Spice Herb Veggie Beer
3rd - Anthony Gurka and Gianpierro Ioppicolo - 13C - Southpaw - Oatmeal Stout
3rd - Jeff Louella - 14C - The Flame (aka Estate Ale) - Imperial IPA

I think we need to check Dave Grosch for performance enhancing drugs. Though I would love to taste some of his brews ans see his setup. He obviously is doing something right.

One thing to note: Steve Hulse and I brewed the Dusseldorf Alt. Not sure why he's not on the Keystone site. I'm pretty sure I included him as a co-brewer on the entry form.

Oh, and Ty Currier works with me. This was his first batch ever! One thing I neglected to tell him was the importance of a blow-off tube.... hence the name of the beer: "Leffe Some on the Ceiling".
