Anyone out there have a good Irish Red recipe? I am looking to make a Smithwicks clone for my father and can't seem to find a good one in any of my books, and I don't trust web-sites. Please help. Thanks

Here is Jamil's Irish Red Recipe. It is probably a good start.

MP3 Podcast of his show on this style: http://thebrewingnetwork.com/shows/The-Jamil-Show/Irish-Red-Ale-The...

Recipe from his book: http://ourbeer.blogspot.com/2007/11/jamils-irish-red.html
Hey Craig,

I put one together a few years ago for a customer and he said it came out pretty good. Here's the specifics:

5 Lbs Light DME
12 oz. Crystal 60
8 oz Melanoidin Malt
3 oz Roasted Barley
1.5 oz Fuggles Hops ( 60 min)
2 tsp Gypsum (60 min)
0.5 oz Kent Goldings ( 5 min)
Whilte Labs British Ale Yeast

It's pretty straight foward.

Hope that helps you out a littel
